‘Attention all SCI_Arc Alumni’

If any of you have any longing desire to revisit the original SCI_Arc building at 1800 Berkeley Street i suggest you do it soon - The City of Santa Monica is revoking it’s Landmark status due to the current owner doing some ‘renovation’ and even Ray Kappe himself has agreed that it no longer has any special qualities. NMS Developers is going to raze the building for an apartment complex. If anyone knows when the wrecking ball will be dropped - i’m sure there’s a good photo-op. Who will stage a candlelight vigil the night before? Who will chain themselves to Ruth’s desk (or something else) to protest the demolition? Who knows what they will find in John Dreschers bunker? Will the building put up a fight or will it go without so much as a whimper? Have we heard the last of 1800?
